This past semester OofSI (under the leadership of Clarin Collins) organized four sessions devoted to SoTL. The goal was to generate interest and foster conversation among faculty about studying their own practice. We were helped in this by ActionLab at EdPlus as well as the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance. We covered a lot of ground in these discussions: from identifying tensions to developing research questions; from considering research integrity to research design; from exploring uses of existing data and expanding the Action Lab Fellowship in the future. We are excited that a team of faculty members are preparing to conduct a classroom study in spring.
Here are a few resources that were developed along the way:
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Initiatives at MLFTC – presentation by Clarin Collins
Action Lab – presentation by Tom Fikes
The Office of Research Integrity and Assurance – presentation by Erik Williams
